Streamline Designs plays a significant role in
ASTM meetings and activities at the
2008 U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, Florida
January 2008-Sebring, FL
Just prior to the 2008 Expo in Sebring, Florida, Adam Morrison of Streamline Designs led the ASTM meetings on fixed wing Light Sport Aircraft, where Adam serves as Chairman. The meetings covered subject matter such as firewall requirements, propellers, Pilot's Operating Handbooks, IFR/IMC operations, and electrical requirements for fixed-wing LSA.
Following the ASTM meetings, Adam delivered a abbreviated ASTM standards training session with Tom Gunnarson from the Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association (LAMA) to LSA manufacturers covering the requirements of the ASTM standards for fixed-wing LSA. This abbreviated training is a subset of a longer, two-day course that takes a detailed look at all of requirements that apply to fixed-wing LSA.
As Adam noted during the Sebring activities, "Now that the LSA industry is taking off, it is really important that we continue to develop and refine these consensus standards to help insure the integrity and quality of the products available to consumers. Training will become an increasingly important aspect of this effort as this young industry continues to grow and develop. Streamline Designs is excited to serve the LSA community in this way."
During the Expo, Adam Morrison participated in a press conference with Flight Design, manufacturer of the popular CT airplane, and LAMA to issue the certificate of completion for the third-party LAMA compliance audit. Streamline Designs performs the technical portion of the LAMA audit program and completed the technical audit for the CT aircraft. More information and pictures are available at the following link.
